Keeping simple records turns a general merchandise liquidation pallet such as Lot 56 from a pile of goods into stock you can actually track. This lot is one pallet of mixed items sold used and as-is, with freight anywhere in the US included. The notes below show a lightweight record-keeping routine that does not need special software.
Record-Keeping for a General Merchandise Liquidation Pallet
Unmanifested lots arrive with no item list, so you create the list yourself. Doing it as you sort costs a little time up front and saves a lot later, especially when you are tracking resale inventory by the pallet across several orders.
A one-sheet system
- Header: lot number (56), order date, delivery date, purchase cost and freight notes.
- Columns: item description, quantity, condition note, where it went (online, bin, market, parts, discard), asking amount and sold date.
- Tags: write a short code on each piece or bag so it links back to the sheet.
Weekly review
Once a week, total what sold, what is still listed and what was discarded. Over a few pallets, you will see which channels handle mixed goods well and how long a general merchandise pallet takes to clear in your setup. Keep receipts and records for tax purposes according to your own accountant’s advice.
What Is on the Pallet
Mixed goods from the general merchandise department. A count of about 100 to 300 items is typical, though not promised; the actual number moves with item size. Because this is an unmanifested pallet, your sheet will be the first record of its contents.
Condition Disclosure
Pieces are not tested, graded or checked for completeness. Sell everything as used. Expect some items that look unused, some with wear, and some that are damaged, missing parts or not working. Noting condition on your sheet helps you describe each item honestly when you list it.
Who Uses Records Like This
Marketplace sellers, bin store and discount shop operators, flea market vendors and repair or parts resellers all benefit from tracking where each piece ends up. No particular result is implied.
Freight and Pickup
Freight anywhere in the US is included, and delivery is curbside. Have a pallet jack, forklift or loading dock ready if possible. If not, talk to the store before ordering, or book local pickup by appointment and review pickup storage terms in the Shipping Policy.
As-Is Terms
Sold as-is and unmanifested. Returns are handled under the Returns & Refund Policy; report damage, shortage or defects following the Returns & Refund Policy and the Shipping Policy. Your delivery photos and record sheet make any report clearer.
Record-Keeping Questions
Do I need inventory software?
No. A spreadsheet or even a paper log works well for a single pallet.
How detailed should item descriptions be?
Enough to recognize the piece later, for example type, color and any defect, without slowing the sort too much.
Will I get a manifest to start from?
No. Lot 56 is not itemized, so you build the record during your sort.
